Chapter 1 complete!

Hey all! Another quick update to say that chapter 1 is complete and posted on the CM website! It's the same link that I put in the last post. Since I'm almost at my baby's due date I'm afraid that AV will have to go on another short break for a while, until my baby is safely delivered and I can adjust a bit to life as a mother. (So new and exciting!) It may not be until December until I get anything else new up, but I'll try my best to have at least a few new things before Christmas. So please be patient with me, and pray for my hubby and I and our new baby daughter who is due in October!

About this entry's art, it's just a compilation of old art to keep you entertained, lol. Just dreaming about how the book could possibly be when the first volume is finished and printed. That dream is still a long way from being completed, but with 1 chapter done I feel a little closer. Chapter 2 here we come!

Updates!

Just a quick post to share that the manga has been updated on the Christian Manga website! I just haven't been able to use FTP from my home computer to be able to update the website here, but someday soon I hope to be able to do that from a computer in town. Here's the link to the new pages on Christian Manga:

Problem solved! Get ready!

The problems that I was having with toning and saving are finally solved, so now I can work on AV! Thanks to all who were praying. And expect new things to come! Get ready!

Just to share my happiness, here's a random sketch on the back of one of the pages. Will it ever happen?? Who knows XD

Never Forget

Just a little sketch to show that AV's still alive. I've got so many complications in my life right now. Art wise, still confused with Manga Studio and unable to tone, looking for decent ink pens in Ecuador, but still moving forward with the sketches of the pages at least. Life can get so busy and stressful even at times and the last couple of months have been difficult for me and my husband. But I take comfort in the fact that all of the details of my life are under God's care. It's a lesson in trust. So I'm content. Finished updates on this manga are probably still a long ways away from now, but with little advances I'm enjoying it. So we'll all look forward to that "someday" ^^

Counting the blessings

God's been so good to me. I just wanted to share it ^^

Wish I could say that AV's moving forward, but I'm still in the same problem with Manga Studio. But a couple friends are helping me so I think we'll get it figured out soon. In the meantime, I've been working a lot on a different project, a collaboration manga project with the goal of providing help and encouragement to victims of sexual or physical abuse. Each story is written by a different artist, all with the theme of how God views abuse and gives hope in the Bible. It's been an incredible blessing to me ever since the project started! What's been neat to me has been seeing how God creates interest in the hearts of others, and seeing the project move forward. This week I was working on the script for my short story for the project. It makes me really excited, because I want to see this project helping others someday, too. So the picture for this blog entry is the title page for my short story, In Heaven's eyes. Can't wait to finish it!

As far as other blessings, morning sickness is starting to get a little better. I'm just about done with the first trimester of my pregnancy (the first 3 months). It's kinda being replaced by other somewhat uncomfortable symptoms, but I'm still so happy that baby and I are doing ok. So this week I'm a very happy girl ^^

I'll post again if anything new comes up. I hope I can have the new pages up soon.

Sorry for taking so long...

Hey everyone! I'm sorry I missed the date for the March update on the manga. I've been having a lot of difficulties with saving my files in Manga Studio. For some reason, no matter how I export the files the tones get really distorted and the pages look horrible. I'd rather figure out the problem than upload bad pages, so I'm still working away with that. I have 2 pages of AV done and 4 pages of another manga called Wonder ready to upload as well. It's been a slow month for manga but I've been trying my best to find time for drawing. Here's the reason why...

This last month I went into the doctor to check up on some strange symptoms I was having. I thought I just had a strange flu or something, turns out that I'm pregnant! As of today my baby is 7 weeks old! My hubby and I were both so excited, it was what we wanted but didn't think would happen so soon. So we're incredibly blessed. Morning sickness has hit me hard and sometimes keeps me in bed, but hopefully that will pass soon. Anyway, I just wanted to write the reasons for the delay, I still love drawing manga and will continue to do my very best for our Lord. Take care everyone, hope you like the Shiro drawing! It's from my favorite scene in chapter 7. And desperately needs a background, haha. Someday.

Contest Results

The Cover Contest has finally come to a close! It was very exciting, and I'm happy to have the front cover decided. Everyone did such a wonderful job! You can find all of the contest entries on the "Fun" section of the main AV website. Thank you very much, all of you! And my special judges who helped me with the decision process as well.

It's becoming a lot of fun to continue with the manga! I have most of the next scene inked and ready to tone but I've been doing a lot of practice with Manga Studio. Before I did all of the manga pages in photoshop and in a very different way so this is all very new to me. I hope the quality keeps improving though. I'm also working out kinks in the story and trying to make it more exciting and realistic. I think Shiro and Aaron got a little crazier XD lol.

News

I don't think Chibi Ahi does him justice... lol.

Well, I think I fixed the website issue. I took off the height restrictions so I think it'll grow now on its own instead of having images overlap. Please comment here if anyone finds any problems with the site, I'd like it to work for everyone. Finishing the chibis were really fun!

It wasn't in the original plan, but the prologue of AV is finished and up, and in color! I was going to tone it but I still quite don't understand how to use Manga Studio, so coloring was easiest in Photoshop. And a friend mentioned seeing it in color. I don't think she realized that her mistake turned into a challenge for me. But it was a lot of fun, I hope you all like it. I don't think I'll do many color pages in the future, I'm not that great at it XD Oh well.

In other news, I've decided to move the deadline for the cover contest another week back. It's kindof a strange story. The details are here:
http://www.christianmanga.com/smf/index.php/topic,1712.0.html
Basically because I thought the 1st was a Monday, and I'm still waiting on an entry.

That's it, I hope to finish the first scene of chapter 1 for the March update! There are some changes to the storyline even. I think Shiro's even spazzier, lol. Take care, thanks everyone for the support!

Finally (almost) done with the website!

It's kindof lame how long this has taken me. But I'm almost done with the website, there are just a couple small things left to do. Chibis of Kevario and Ahi for the bottom of their pages and it's done. But that has to wait for another day, lol. I hope you all enjoy it anyway, it was a learning process for me. I'm excited for the manga update in February, it'll be a surprise!

Website changes

Haha, well, I was so excited to announce the new site, but parts are still under construction. I'll do my best to get all pages up by next Monday. What does work are the manga viewer and the blog. We'll see what happens next week.

The new Advocate Voice has begun!

This is the first post for the new AV update blog! I'm very happy to be able to write the updates here instead of on the main website. It was hard to fit everything that I wanted to say onto the last layout. And here I can be just a bit more personal, too.

This time with the new AV, new pages will be done just a bit slower. I've got a lot to learn and get used to. The pages are a lot larger, 300 dpi now, and I'm just beginning to learn to use Manga Studio. But I hope the quality will be much better! These last couple of months I've been doing a lot of research, practice, and reworking. The biggest change is Jazz's character, who is now a Rebel archer named Hoku. Along with that are some new scenes and reworked scenes and a whole lot of ideas for the future! So I'm very happy to announce the new version of Advocate Voice and work hard on it once again. I'll do my best to update the first Monday of the month as I have been, and when there's not very many new pages I'll add funny sketches or different things to make it interesting. I may update this blog more often than once a month.

The updates for January: The new layout, and a preview of the sketched prologue. I'm sure it'll go through some changes before it's inked and toned, but I thought it only fair to show you all some of what I've been doing these past few months. There are also some new fan arts in the "fun" section, and various changes all throughout the site. Please check out the contest section as well! And feel free to post comments here anytime. That's all for today, enjoy the spoiler art of AV's two blue gals, and see ya in the next update!
